December has been a month of smiles, curiosity, snuggles, and lights. We just can't get enough of this guy!
|
8 Months
(We didn't stay out long) |
Growth: No pediatrician visit this month, but the adult scale puts him around 17-18#. Hair and eyes are about the same as last month.
Sleep: Jonah is still side-sleeping in his sleep sack, about 9:30-7, in his crib. By day he takes 3 naps of 50-150 minutes, with a little help from a pacifier and a bouncing/swaying snuggle maneuver.
Eating: The breastfeeding routine remains the same as Jonah's list of solid foods has grown. Breakfast and dinner are still oatmeal/fruit and rice/veggie, and we have added a lunch meal with a fruit or veggie mixed into pureed tofu or plain yogurt. New foods have included avocado, green beans, peaches, mango, and a little lick of brie cheese. He has greeted each food with an open mouth, except the brie, which he ate and then looked up at us with a confused expression. We have introduced a sippy cup of water, which is somehow the only thing he doesn't want to put in his mouth. Go figure.

"Eating" a CD from the Smith family. Mmmm...Raffi! |
Personality: Jonah gets a big smile on his face over all the same things from last month's post, and also enjoys watching you clap or wash hands, candles and fireplaces, eating straps, friends, faces, and doggies.

Milestones: Starting this week, you can let go of Jonah in standing if he is holding onto something like a couch or activity table. Then a kitty walks by and he reaches and leans and topples. Also, he can now officially roll between tummy and back both directions, and sometimes in multiples resulting in a smidge of mobility. He's bound to take off crawling or cruising before long, since he has a strong sense of curiosity and wants to hold and eat everything he can see.

Thanks for letting us borrow it, Evanchan family! |
Events: December has been a busy month! Outside of the usual playing, Jonah has gone to lots of holiday parties and events. We kicked off the season with Julian's office party at the zoo; Jonah loved the lights, and Julian's colleagues loved Jonah and his bowtie! We went to Rich and Christy's new house for a holiday housewarming. Then came Chanukah. Jonah just loves looking at the candles! He also loves chewing on presents. He had a great time playing with his cousins Ainsley, Avery, Jillian, Corey, and Ella at Shani and Steve's house. Following that we went to Mimi and Poppy's for Jonah's first Christmas. More lights to look at, and some good Bella time! The last few days of the year he had more time to play with cousin Ella, then his friend Allison. Aunt Maggie and cousin Julie came into town and had a nice visit as well. Finally, for New Year's, Grandma and Grandpa came down to visit to cap off a busy holiday season; Jonah loved it!
