We write this as Jonah sleeps upstairs in what used to be Lindsay's Ma and Pa's bedroom, in Aunt Mary and Uncle Greg's house, as we hope our power will return soon! It has been out since Friday and we hope to have it back by the 4th! On with the show...
Growth: He must be growing, because he eats a lot! No measurements though.

Still smaller than a chess set ;) |
Sleep: Jonah's night owl tendencies have not subsided, but he's one happy guy! He takes 2 naps and sleeps roughly 9:30-7.

Eating: He's still nursing and eating all kinds of things. He had his first sushi and seaweed salad, which he enjoyed. He isn't as crazy about fruit as he had been, but he's starting to get a taste for cow's milk, which we are very happy about. He started liking ice cream this month too. We can still eat with him in a restaurant, but he gets squirmy part-way through and needs an "intermission." His communication about what he wants is getting somewhat better too.

Personality: Jonah's favorite things to play with are still sticks and balls. He plays fetch with himself! He has a drawer and cabinet in the kitchen filled with his toys and books, which keep him happy. He has gotten interested in imaginative play, and will get out a tea set and pretend to drink from a cup, smell a rose, pour tea, and bring you a cookie or a cup of tea. He loves to climb on and in things, including a cubby in his room, which he will crawl into and out of 20 times in a row. Books are huge with Jonah right now. He walks over and picks one up, then looks you in the eye, book extended in front of him, racing towards you. He wants you to take the book then he backs up into you to be picked up and read to. He turns the pages, points to a few things, and when it's done he either pushes it aside and squirms down to get another book, or flings it in your face to have it read over again. He looooves his kitty cats and makes his kitty noise when he sees them. He's much more consistently gentle when petting them as well.

Milestones: His walking continues to improve. He really gets wherever he wants on two feet these days. He excels at stairs, especially on the way up. He's decent going down with holding on to the bannister and contact guard assistance. He got some cool new red sandals to tool around in. He can throw a ball pretty well. He is also starting to talk! So far he knows one word: "Mom." We'll ask him to say something else (like "Dad") and he'll look back, smile, and say, "Mom!" He is picking up on animals and can point to the appropriate animal in a book when asked. The elephant is his favorite! He's also getting one animal sound down. His favorite book these days is
Doggies by Sandra Boynton, and he'll grab it and walk to the intended reader saying, "Owowowowowowow!" In addition to picking out animals, he's learning some body parts. He can indicate his tongue (oldie but goody), heart, brain, eyes, ears, arms, and feet. We started to play "This Little Piggy" with him and he went right for his toes! He didn't quite understand "axilla," though, and did his Godzilla routine instead! He will self-initiate Peek-a-boo.

Events: We moved. Jonah has adjusted very well to the move and was very helpful with the packing and unpacking process. He's really enjoying the new neighborhood and has been taking more walks around (including walking to get pizza, ice cream, etc.) and visit family. Grandma and Grandpa came into town to help us get settled in our first weekend here and we enjoyed our first Shabbat dinner in the new house together. We had a Fathers' Day BBQ with them as well as Mimi, Poppy, Mary, Greg, and Aunts Lauren and Alana that got Julian only somewhat soaked. Jonah loved the pizzas though!
