That's a lot of months!
Growth: Again nothing official, but Jonah is much more efficient with opening doors and reaching things down from tables.
|
Look guys! 17 months! |
|
Lets well beyond the limits of the basket |
Sleep: He has had a little wrinkle with a recent cold and teething, but is still sleeping from 9:00-7:30 or so. He generally wakes up very happy wanting to read a lot of books. He also gets into our closet and finds some dress-up necklaces that he enjoys putting on (all of them at once), then taking them off. He will sit in a certain spot in the bathroom while we're getting ready to play games on Mommy's phone. He is also succeeding with the transition to napping without nursing.

Playing behind the bed/nightstand, donning necklaces, turning on radio |
Eating: He still eats about everything. New favorites include pasta; when we have this he will eat more than either of us in one sitting! He also loves pizza, challah, and essentially any other carb. Over the past month, he has gradually gone from nursing 3 times a day to just at bedtime. Morning was easier to take out than mid-day, but he's getting there.

|
He actually managed to get some lo mein in his mouth by chopstick! |
|
Calamari obsession. Normal. |
Personality: He is a book fiend. He knows where we stash every book in the house and will often make a beeline for them asking, "buuuhhh?" His true passion is climbing absolutely anything it's possible to climb (and trying anything that's not). He would stay in a swing all day if we let him. He likes animals more and more and can identify by name bears, koalas, gorillas, piggies, and ducks (his favorite). He makes noises for cats, dogs, snakes, and lions. He loves the bath still, and started protesting when bath time is over, but when he sees the duck towel, he gets super excited to see himself in the mirror wrapped up in it. He has begun cleaning up after himself most of the time when we ask, and when ask him to put his clothes in the laundry, he picks them up and trots to the laundry chute in the bathroom and proudly puts them down. He loves playing with his "cousin" Bella, and has been requesting to see her by name, "bawa!"

Milestones: His vocabulary is expanding exponentially. New words include "ba-ta" (pasta), "beeza" (pizza), "aaaaaaap?" (apple, always said like a question), "dah!" (duck), "bi-guh" (piggy), "wawa" (koala and gorilla), "bea" (bear), "dat!" (either car or sock), "GG" (GG), "bye," "doah"(door), "moh!" (more, always emphatic), "bai-ga" (bagel, which he said for the first time on Yom Kippur at the break the fast meal), and "ballball" (football). He is learning his alphabet and loves anything involving ABCs including multiple books and the song. He can throw a ball a few feet (and other objects if we don't stop him in time). He is getting the idea of how the phone and Skype work, and he has just started grabbing the phone and asking to call certain people. It's hardly ever a convenient time, and he loses interest about 30 seconds in, but it's a start. He can stack blocks himself, and his record is 6.

About to place block #6! |
Events: We celebrated the High Holidays in style this year with Rosh Hashanah in Detroit and Yom Kippur in Columbus. He had a great time with Grandma and Grandpa playing, reading, picking tomatoes, walking around in the yard, and petting their kitty art. He didn't sit through too much of services, but we took turns some, and went to the pre-school service at Tifereth.

We went to Smith Farm Market, where Lindsay went growing up as well, on a weekend they were having some extra fun activities for fall. Jonah checked out all the pumpkins, was fascinated with the ducks and pig (which he easily identified). and liked carrying the pumpkins around.

Can he lift them? |
|
Yes, he can! |

"Duh! Duh! Duh!" |

Jonah isn't interested in TV unless there is football on.
Jonah had school picture day. Here's the rainbow room! I just snapped this on my phone, but there will be professional pics to come.
