Jonah Nicholas 18 Months

We can't believe it's already been a year and a half!

Growth: Jonah will be at his 18-month appointment in a couple of weeks, so stay tuned for next month's entry. His feet are growing at least; we just got him some sneakers in a size 6!

Sleep: He is doing very well with getting to sleep at naptime and at bedtime without nursing. He generally takes a 2 hour nap during the day and at night has been sleeping from 9:00-8:00. He wakes up in the morning super happy and talking to himself and playing with his stuffed animals in his crib.

Eating: He has officially been weaned, and he loves cows' milk. Otherwise he is still a carb fiend (all of which he calls "wawa"), and loves pizza and bagels. He has his "nana" (banana) with some baby cereal for breakfast every morning, then whatever we are having for lunch and dinner, and generally enjoys everything. Last week we went out for sushi and he ate a bunch of seaweed salad, all of the tofu from our order of agedashi tofu, and quite a bit of tamago.  We very rarely give him sweets, but he did get to try his first candy on Halloween.

Eating sushi. "Mo!!"

Personality: He is still quite the ham, but is starting to become something of a trouble-maker, looking for things to do that he finds amusing but we do not, then continuing to do them even after we say "no" with a mischievous grin on his face. He still loves his books, climbing just about anything, and animals, and has had a ball playing with Mimi and Poppy's new puppy.  He enjoys painting and making art.
Diaper and a smock...he's ready to paint!

Ta da!! Look what I did!

Jonah loves going the flowers, leaning forward, sniffing, and then looking
for and identifying bees by name

His record is 7!

Jonah loves his backpack and has started carrying it himself

Milestones: He keeps getting new words. It's amazing how quickly he picks up on things. We went to a kids' Shabbat service where they made a 7 days of creation craft and acted it out, and the next day he still had all the arm motions down pat!  He can tell you the adult equivalent of duckling, piglet, puppy, kitten, fawn, cub, and joey.  He continues to love "ABCs" and can identify about 15 of the letters.
Jonah also leaned what a tissue is for.

Events: The month wrapped up with lots of Halloween fun including parties here and at Mimi and Poppy's and some (very selective) trick-or-treating. Earlier in the month Jonah and Mommy and Lauren took a trip to Detroit to visit Grandma and Grandpa and to go to a baby shower. We also went up to Cedar Point for Halloweekends. Jonah loved the lights and the carousel especially!  Jonah loves to snack on "Ap!" so imagine his delight when we went apple and pumpkin picking!  He soaked up the perfect fall day and didn't let the apple away from his mouth for about a half hour- that was one sticky dude.
