Jonah Nicholas, 15 Months

It's been another fantastic month with our little dude! He just keeps getting sweeter and sweeter and cuter and cuter. We're not sure how he does it!

Growth: He had his 15 month checkup and was 29 1/2 inches tall (10th percentile), 21.2 pounds (10th percentile) and had a head circumference of 48cm (75th percentile). No wonder he's so smart!

Sleep: His sleep cycle was thrown off with a little run-in with a coxsackie virus, but when he's been healthy he has been gradually moving bedtime earlier. Now he goes up for a bath around 8, and pretty much immediately thereafter he is ready to sleep. He usually gets up around 6:30. He's been pretty consistent with one two-hour nap during the day as well. All bets are off with him being sick and teething, however!

Eating: Every morning he comes down for breakfast and starts asking for "nana." He will put away basically an entire banana by himself along with a waffle or some cereal. We just have to watch him closely since sometimes he likes to eat the peel as well! He is getting much better with his silverware. He will still eat almost anything, but he is starting to get a little less tolerant of sitting in a high chair at a restaurant.

Personality: He still loves books, particularly those with flaps; sticks; peek-a-boo; climbing; and taking things out of things/putting things back into things. We also recently got Lindsay's grandparents' piano in our living room, and he enjoys sitting at the bench and banging out a few notes or dancing while someone else plays. He still loves his kitties as well, though we're honestly not sure why Alton puts up with him, as he's starting to get rougher. He has started getting more and more squirmy on the changing table but can be charmed with a song, and when you finish singing, he will clap and sign for more!

Milestones: His speaking vocabulary is picking up! In addition to his solid "Mom," he will rarely use a "Dad." He knows book and ball (both pronounced, "buh"), and, as noted above, banana.

Events: Jonah weathered the power failure pretty well. He had a great July 4th; he loved swimming in Cheryl and Larry's pool! It's been a fun month with a lot of play time. Cousins Michael, Carmen, and Ella are in town, and Jonah has spent a lot of time playing with them. We have had a lot of house guests including another visit from Grandma and Grandpa, with whom Jonah always loves spending time. We also had a family portrait session with a wonderful photographer, Megan Danser. See her blog post with her wonderful pictures of Jonah here: http://blog.mnrphotography.com/meet-jonah/
